The model for SCSI is that each logical unit is a separate and totally
independent entity. The UML in SAM-5 is clear about this.
In this context, SCSI cannot comprehend the notion that mode pages might be
shared between logical units.
This is not to say that SCSI explicitly prohibits such sharing. There is no
prohibition written that can be quoted, so your designers are left free to
build anything customers will buy.
However, ...
As a SCSI purist, I must tell you that there is a Unit Attention glitch
associated with sharing a mode page between multiple logical units.
If a MODE SELECT command changes the contents of such an overly shared mode
page, then a Unit Attention for MODE PARAMETERS CHANGED is obligatory for ALL
logical units that share the page. The parameters have changed and every
logical unit is supposed to report that.
All the best,
.Ralph

Hello Members,
I have a doubt regarding mode pages. There is a single flash device
which has 8 virtual logical units (LUN=0 to 7). It supports CONTROL,
READ-WRITE ERROR RECOVERY and CACHING mode pages.
In this case, all these mode pages will be shared by all logical units
or each logical unit contain separate mode pages?
Thanks in advance.
