Hello Bill,
Thank you for the response. What is the timeline to resolve this issue /
provide definitive answer what is or are the proper implementation(s)?
With regards,
David.

Hi,
Katata-san is correct about this. There are a number of SPC3/4
requirements with which ATAPI drives typically do not comply. This is
permitted when the INQUIRY version number is set to zero.
I have been notified that SPC-3/4 requires that compliant devices
support the REPORT LUNS command. It is most useless and unsupported on
ATAPI and USB drives. We decided that I need to clarify the legal way to
permit non-compliance with SPC-3/4. Addiitonally, I think that it is
important that such drives include at least an MMC version descriptor.
Cheers,
Bill McFerrin

data are still not consistent
Hi David,
I think if you talk about ATAPI based ODD software, you may check the Version
field value as 00h.
If a device is designed as ATAPI device, the field is set to 00h.
If the device is designed as SAM device, the field is set to 06h (well.. 05h
may
be possible).
Best regards,
Keiji Katata
