I think you are right. I know Microsoft in Windows XP attempted to address
the problem by acting as proxy for all other threads - but this gets broken
as soon as a legacy, or uncooperative, thread touches the device. Maybe we
would need to fix that in the spec, although given the short time remaining
for MMC5 complete draft, this could be problematic.

And me, I thought that media events were not shareable. That is, we
have defined no read request, only a read-and-clear request. So the
first client thread to reach the device gets the media event, and all
the others lose out, unless that first thread has the privilege, the
connections, and the consideration necessary to broadcast the event
to all the other client threads.
Am I also misunderstanding?
