Results of Meeting
1. Opening Remarks
John Lohmeyer, the T10 Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.,
Thursday May 3, 2001. He thanked Zane Daggett of Hitachi Cable Manchester for
hosting the meeting.
John said that NCITS Subgroup Membership forms and the T10 Mailing
Subscription form were available from the head table. He said that people
should use the NCITS forms to insure the NCITS Secretariat has the latest
membership information. These forms should be mailed directly to the NCITS
Secretariat.
As is customary, the people attending introduced themselves and a copy of the
attendance list was circulated. Copies of the draft agenda and general
information on T10 were made available to those attending.
2. Approval of Agenda
The draft agenda was approved with the following additions/changes:
10.5.1 Streaming Clarifications (01-125r1) [Day]
10.5.2 SPI L_Q error handling (01-147r0) [Penokie]
10.5.3 SPI-4 reset cleanup (01-128r3) [Elliott]
10.6.1 Multi-Port Model Discussion (00-268r8) [Penokie]
10.6.2 Asymmetrical SCSI Behavior (00-232r9) [Moe]
10.6.3 Logical unit groups (01-004r2) [Elliott]
10.8 Project Proposal for SRP-2 (01-___) [Elliott]
No agenda items were added/revised during the course of the meeting.
3. Attendance and Membership
The membership requirements were reviewed. NCITS rules permit one vote per
organization. An individual from a new organization must attend at least one
T10 plenary meeting as an Advisory Member. He/she may apply for voting
membership at this meeting, which becomes effective following adjournment of
the meeting. Voting privileges begin upon receipt by the NCITS Secretariat of
applicable fees for the membership year.
To maintain membership, organizations must pay the NCITS Service Fee ($800).
John briefly discussed the mailing fees. Complete pricing information is
contained in the 2001 membership form (available at
ftp://ftp.t10.org/t10/mem_form.txt).
There are also minimum attendance requirements to maintain voting membership
on T10. If a member organization fails to attend two of the last three T10
meetings, they are warned that failing to attend the next T10 meeting would
result in their membership being terminated.
The Chair said he had sent letters to 5 people from 3 organizations informing
them that their membership was in jeopardy due to non-attendance (see
01-116r0) and that their membership would be terminated if they did not attend
this meeting. The following organizations were in attendance jeopardy:
Circuit Assembly Corp.
Exabyte Corp.
Woven Electronics
All organizations in attendance jeopardy were present.
No organizations requested new (or reinstated) membership.
The T10 membership during the meeting was 46 organizations unchanged from last
time. Enclosure (1) is the list of the people present at the meeting and
enclosure (2) is the current T10 membership list.
The following organization requested new membership following the adjournment
of the meeting:
Andiamo Systems, Inc.
T10 membership following the meeting was 47 members.
4. Approval of Minutes - March `01 Meeting - Dallas, TX (T10/01-091r1)
The minutes were approved as written.
5. Document Distribution
Members who have any problems with their mailing subscription should deal
directly with Monica Vago (mvago at itic.org) (202) 626-5741.
John Lohmeyer requested that all documents for the next mailing be in his
hands in electronic format by 10:30 a.m. on Thursday May 10, 2001. Documents
received after this time may go into a subsequent mailing.
John reminded the committee of the requirements for document submission.
Since T10 meets its document retention requirements by preparing mailings,
documents included in the mailing must be suitable for archiving. This means
that native-format and/or Portable Document Format (PDF) electronic originals
with proper identification must be submitted.
People can obtain T10 document numbers and revised T10 document numbers by
filling out a web form at http://www.t10.org/members/. The assigned T10
document number will be sent to the requestor by email. The requestor may
then reply to this email, including the document to be posted as an
attachment. The document will be automatically posted on the T10 web site.
T10 members can complete this entire process using their personal T10
password; if you do not know your password, go to the above URL and click on
the link to have your password sent to you via e-mail. Non-members can also
use the above process, but their requests will require approval by an
administrator.
Minutes are available on the T10 World Wide Web page (see below), and are
distributed to the T10 Reflector.

Dal Allan provided the following electronic report to the committee:
The proposals for 1.8" form factors from IBM/Fujitsu/Hitachi (SFF-8110) and
Toshiba (SFF-8120) were reviewed and changes were recommended to the next
revisions. A new title was recommended for SFF-8110, and the contents will be
broken into two specifications for form factor (SFF-8111) and connector
position (SFF-8112).
SFF-8421 (HSSDC-2) was reviewed, and the next revision will be separated into
the generic specification with variations in keying and pin assignments for
InfiniBand and Fibre Channel in separate sections.
SFF-8452 (SCA-3) was criticized for having had the unanticipated result of
causing inquires for samples on the assumption that something better than
SCS-2 was necessary for current SCSI implementations. Negative comments on the
technical merits were answered and the title was changed.
SFF-8460 (HSS Backplane Design Guidelines) passed the ballot with no technical
comments and will be next balloted for publication.
The HSOI (High Speed Optical Interconnects) and HPEI (High Performance
Electrical Interconnect) projects are proceeding, and the next revision of

George Penokie moved that T10 accept the 2003 meeting dates shown above. John
Lohmeyer seconded the motion. In the absence of any objections, the motion
passed unanimously.
14.1 Authorization of Working Group Meetings
John noted that the working group meetings are required to operate under the
same voting procedures as does T10 (that is, one vote per organization) and
the results of a working group are not binding on the parent committee. Ad
hoc groups should strive to achieve consensus prior to bringing issues to T10.
Zane Daggett moved that T10 authorize the T10-related meetings and events in
the list above that had not previously been approved through the end of August
2001. Paul Aloisi seconded the motion. In the absence of any objections, the
motion passed unanimously.
15. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday May 3, 2001.
