Could anyone point me the reason why those commands become obsolete in MMC2?
I believe SET CD SPEED is heavily used in CD-R/RW today. I guess, that may
be the reason you want to keep SET CD SPEED in MMC3.

Subject: The Status of Commands Obsoleted in MMC2

People interested in MMC3:
The following commands were labelled obsolete in MMC2:

PLAY CD,
READ BUFFER CAPACITY,
READ HEADER,
READ MASTER CUE,
REPAIR TRACK,
SET CD SPEED

With the exception of SET CD SPEED, we plan to remove these command
descriptions in MMC3. If you have an interest in keeping the command
descriptions in MMC3, please post a message to the reflector.

Thank you,
Bill McFerrin
