The problem is exactly that in SCSI there isn't such a mechanism. There's
no architected way to send any kind of data TO the target and get any kind
of data back FROM the target in the same command. Status is always sent,
but no additional data can be sent back (especially after status) except
possibly error reporting. To build one would require significant changes to
SAM and to the underlying protocols like SPI-x, FCP-x, etc. That's the
question I ask at the end. See Robert Elliot's posting.
