You do all understand that this is exactly the reason the REPORT DENSITY
SUPPORT command was added to SSC.  The T10 committee wanted to get out of
the density code assigning business.  The REPORT DENSITY SUPPORT command
allows the device server to report the densities supported by the device
along with information pertaining to each code.  The original concept was to
allow density codes to be managed within other organizations.  At the time,
QIC, DSS, and ECMA all had standardized formats used by multiple vendors.
For those developing formats that were vendor unique, the manufacturer's
name could be used as the assigning organization.  The table in the appendix
was included for legacy devices.  Have we re-though this approach?
