An SBP-2 study group, authorized by the Chair of T10, will meet Friday,
September 15, 2000, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM (or earlier adjournment).
The draft agenda includes the following items:
a) Reduced start-up latency from idle condition
b) Explicit description of how to transport 16-byte or larger CDBs
c) SBP modifications necessary for IEEE P1394.1 environment (Serial Bus
d) Isochronous facilities in SBP
e) Bi-directional data transfer (new ORB type)
f) Other items suggested by participants
I will make an educational presentation made on a) and c) above. If anyone
else wishes presentation time on the agenda, please contact me. The better
part of the study group's time will be spent in discussion and evaluation
of industry needs for enhancements to SBP-2. The goal of the study group is
to determine if a new work item should be initiated and, if so, what should
be its scope.
Please consult http://www.t10.org/meeting.htm for meeting information.
QLogic is hosting this T10 meeting and has negotiated a group rate at the
Hilton Waterfront, (714) 960-7873 or (800) 822-7893. The group name is
"QLOGIC" and the RESERVATIONS CUTOFF DATE is August 17.
Although I have copied this notice to more than just the T10 reflector
(because possible revisions to SBP-2 are of interest to a wider audience),
FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENTS will be made to the T10 and STDS-1394 at IEEE.org
reflectors, ONLY. Subscription to the IEEE 1394 reflector is managed by an
automated list server at Majordomo at IEEE.org.
