To allow single ended and LVD pinouts to be compatible. This allows
multimode devices to serve both markets. Before LVD this was not possible
and therefore the earlier pinouts of HVD had not been made compatible with
single ended except for power and DIFFSENS.

Why did the pinouts for P and Q cable contact assignments change from
HVD to LVD?

We're looking at SPI-2 Working Draft (revision 20b)
