Basically the LVD pinouts are compatible with the S/E pinouts so that a
multi-mode SE/LVD driver is possible. HVD pinouts are incompatible and
drivers are not inter-operable (even with compatible pinouts) with either
SE or LVD.

Why did the pinouts for P and Q cable contact assignments change from
HVD to LVD?

We're looking at SPI-2 Working Draft (revision 20b)
