Minutes:
1.0 Opening Remarks
Ron Roberts called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM on Monday 10/06/97.He
thanked Bill and Randy of Philips for hosting the meetings in Longmont=20
Colorado. Ron asked Mr. Rob Reisch of Kodak to act as recording=20
secretary for the meetings.
This meeting has been authorized by NCITS T10 and will be conducted=20
under the NCITS rules. Ad hoc meetings take no final actions, but=20
prepare recommendations for approval by the NCITS task group. The=20
voting rules for the meeting are those of the parent committee, NCITS=20
T10. For the ad hoc, other than straw votes, there voting rules are:=20
one per participating company.
The minutes of this meeting will be posted to the Symbios T10 BBS,=20
the SCSI Reflector, the MMC Reflector, the DISKBOYS Reflector and=20
will be included in the next X3T10 committee mailing.
Attendance at a working group meeting does not count toward minimum=20
attendance requirements for X3T10 membership. Working group meetings=20
are open to any person or company to attend and to express their=20
opinion on the subjects being discussed.
2.0 Introductions
Introductions of attendees were made and a sign-up sheet was

3.0 Document Distribution
Randy, of Philips, distributed Clause 5 via file =91cls05r5.doc=92.
Mike (Masayuki) Yokoyama distributed hard and soft copies of=20
the document Proposal of ATAPI command set for supporting CD TEXT,=20
file name "cdtext_comp5.doc".
4.0 Call for Patents
The normal request for patent disclosures was made. No patents were=20
identified.

No modifications were made.
6.0 Meeting Agenda
6.1 Get Configuration Philips
Bill explained that Philips is removing there proposal for Get=20
Configuration. Philips will propose enhancements to the current,=20
Mt. Fuji 2, Get Configuration.=20
Philips is proposing that the wording for CD Rom drives feature set=20
make read disc and read track strongly recommended but optional
features.
Clause 5 review Philips

review in Pam Springs.

6.2 - SONY CD Text presentation
Mike (Masayuki), presented a refined proposal for implementing CD Text=20
within MMC II command set. Mike proposal uses two methods to read CD=20
TEXT data in lead-in. First, the Read CD command. The second method,=20
Read TOC/PMA/ATIP and a new negative address definition(F0,00,00,00).
Writing of CD text in lead-in will be supported using the write
parameter mode page (data type of 2,3 and 14(new) with p&q overwritten
by drive)and the write command. Further, writing of Track 0 will=20
refer to the writing of Lead-in. This definition must be added to=20
MMC II. Mike will rewrite his proposal and give it to Ron for inclusion
into MMC II for review in Pam Springs.
6.3 MMC II document review =20
6.3.1 Power Management
After a lengthy discussion (~2.5 hours) Ron Roberts has an action item=20
to bring Mt. Fuji 2 Power Management into MMC II for review in Pam=20
Springs.
6.3.2 Read DVD Structure, use Fuji 2 as is for Pam Springs.
6.3.3 Profiles from Mt. Fuji 2 will be used in MMC II for review=20
in Pam Springs.
6.3.4 Ron will submit the complete profiles and features document that=20
defined most device types(CD, DVD and spinning magnetic and optical=20
devices) to SCSI III working group. MMC II=92s profiles and feature will=
=20
initially address all device types. Based on the actions from the SCSI=20
III working group MMC II may address just CD and DVD devices. Other=20
editorial changes were made to the profiles and feature sections.

8.0 Review of Action Items
*Ron Roberts will add tables to Fuji Clause 8 in the proper=20
places for review in Pam Springs.
*Mike (Masayuki) Yokoyama of Sony will update his CD Text proposal.=20
The refined proposal will be incorporated into MMC II for review in Pam=20
Springs.
* Ron Roberts will bring Mt. Fuji 2 Power Management into MMC II for=20
review in Pam Springs.
* Ron will submit the complete profiles and features document that=20
defined most device types(CD, DVD and spinning magnetic and optical=20
devices) to SCSI III working group. Wednesday afternoon tentative time=20
for SCSI III working group meeting to present Profiles and Features.
*Rob Sims will add an Annex M that explains Profiles and Features for=20
review in Pam Springs.=20
