PDF problem

Ladies and gentlemen,
   Here is a warning regarding PDF and "smart quotes".  Microsoft Word has an
option under Tools, Options, AutoFormat, replace as you type, a box named
Replace straight quotes with "Smart Quotes".  If you have this box checked,
then the text " and ' marks are replaced with inward or outward leaning
quotes.  Since these characters are special symbols and PDF does not handle
special symbols well, they will appear as blanks in PDF files.  
   Therefore, make sure this box is not checked if you are creating files
that will eventually become PDF files (i.e., any output presented before T11
or FCW).
