Request Sense during immediate commands

The following proposal was generated about a year or more ago.
I am not sure if this came from a SCSI reflector or from minutes of
an ANSI meeting.

During the handling of an immediate command a Request Sense to a SCSI
device would return a sense=0x00, ASC = 0x00, ASCQ=0x16, (0x... = hex)
to indicate that a device had not completed the current immediate
operation yet.

I never heard of any follow-up on this proposal.
