Thanks for clarifying my comments (as I hoped you would).

My recollection is that the "peripheral device" and "volume set device"
wording were added to ensure that all SCC devices/components with externally
visible LUN values appeared in the Report Luns command parameter data.  Some
wording changes may be necessary to clarify this in SPC-2.  However, since
the current wording makes sense to me, I'm probably the wrong person to make
the proposal.

I have no problems with adding requirements to SPC-2 regarding the Report Luns
command.  Since SCC will soon be a standard, a normative reference to it will
present no problems.  Or, as Gene suggests, the applicable text can be copied.
