All the discussion on tolerances is interesting but not appropriate. SCSI-2
(and eventually I presume SCSI-3) is quite clear on this subject. Quoting from
SCSI-2 5.6.21:
"The transfer period factor times four is the value of the transfer period. The
transfer period is the minimum time allowed between leading edges of successive
REQ pulses and of successive ACK pulses to meet the device requirements for
successful reception of data."
Minimum means it can not be less than but can be more than. The tolerance then
is -0 ns and plus the timeout period for a bus hang.
