This T10 authorized telecon occurred on Oct. 22, 2:00 pm CDT.
Agenda included discussion of 09-331r4 and 10-241r2.
Attendees:
Gerry Houlder (Seagate)
Jim Hatfield (Seagate)
Kevin Marks (Dell)
Dan Colgrove (Hitachi GST)
John Geldman (Lexar)
Rajiv Madabhushi (Pliant Technology)
Wayne Bellamy (HP)
Truong Nguyen (Samsung)
Mike Fitzpatrick (Toshiba)
Fred Knight (NetApps)
09-331r4 (Create SCSI Sanitize command) was discussed for 1 hour and 50
minutes. Major changes that were requested were:
(a) when SANITIZE command is processed (as implicit head of queue), other
command in the queue currently get aborted with no indication to their
initiators that the were aborted. The required this to change to terminating
each aborted command with CHECK CONDITION status, SANITIZE IN PROGRESS sense
bytes;
(b) CHECK CONDITION status ans sense bytes need to be added to several
places in the SANITIZE command description;
(c) there was significant discussion of map/ unmap rules pointing out
conflicting desires for different implementations but no final consensus was
reached;
(d) suggestion of treating SANITIZE TYPE field as a service action field, so
REPORT OP CODES command can report individual support for the different
methods;
(e) and a number of editorial changes that did not change any requirements.
10-241r2 (Translate SAS SANITIZE to ATA Sanitize) was discussed for 15
minutes. Time was used to quickly skim the proposal to point out which
changes were editorial, were related to the new sanitize requirement, and
collateral changes to Request Sense and Test Unit Ready translation. A few
editorial changes were requested but the proposal was not critiqued in
depth.
