Ah, this makes it clearer.
I believe DVD-R DL had the very challenging difficulty that ROM drives would
not see the additional sessions, neither, in most drives, read the remapping
information. This was particularly painful for packet writing and for VR
applications which do not know in advance the data to be burned. Luckily
DVD-RW DL can have a single rewritable session for the whole disc and avoid
all this trouble, right?
Moving the middle area and overwriting AVDPs at the beginning and end of the
disc to point to the new metadata, also referred as type 'B', similar to the
SL DVD RW virtual multi-session, should be enough for mastering where the
amount of data to burn is know in advance. This is likely the same as you
The remaining of LJR on RW, e.g. regular interval LJ, is probably unnecessary
complication. The more recording format or mode we have the more we risk
causing compatibility issues. Thus I suggest avoiding them, which is,
removing it from the command set specification.
I do not want to write the decades old ISO9660 to new DVD formats. The new
reduced reflectivity requires new reader optic anyway, so that UDF capability
in the resulting CE equipment can be assumed. All current computers too
understand UDF. Thus I think ISO9660 is a complication, and yet another
source of potential compatibility issues, we can avoid. Don't you agree?

Please refer to 3rd paragraph on page 14 of DVD-RW_DL.pdf.
Pioneer assumes that ISO/UDF bridge may be used by Mastering/Authoring
application as same as DVD-R DL. Pioneer assumes that such application may
support data file(s) appending by updating VRS and AVDP as same as DVD-RW SL.
This allows applications the same functionality on RW-DL as well as

In closerz.pdf I am surprised that the text for CD close session is
changed. Furthermore the new text would not be consistent with MMC-5.
Why would we change CD behavior now?
Then, the overwritability scheme of the LJR on RW DL is odd: could you
clarify what file system, and precisely what file system access type you
envision on RW DL?
