This field is used when a SATA Port Multiplier is used between the SATL
and SATA devices. The PM PORT is a field in the FIS defined by SATA II
documentation and indicates the port multiplier port over which the
signature FIS was received.
=20
The documentation of this feature is in the Serial ATA II Specification
Port Multiplier document posted to the T10 web site as 03-157r2
http://www.t10.org/ftp/t10/document.03/03-157r2.pdf
<http://www.t10.org/ftp/t10/document.03/03-157r2.pdf> .
=20
The SAT draft standard should be updated to reference the SATA II Port
Multiplier specification with regards to the meaning of this field. =
I'll
make a note on my draft review copy of SAT and we can discuss in the =
SAT
WG.

Bob

Subject: SAT question on Signature in the VPD mode page
In the VPD mode page there is a signature which is the contents of the
latest register device to host FIS. In this signature there is a field
called "PM PORT". This field is not defined in ATAPI-7 volume 3
Revision 4b. Can you point me to where this is defined?
