Hello Bill. This particular information (and how to make reference to
it) was in early development at the time the proposal was written for
the SAT "ATA Information VPD page" which you've mentioned. Since that
time, a link to this information has been provided in the T13 web site
in "LINKS" - then to "SATA" - then to "Site Map" - then to "SATA
Technology" - then to "Specifications" then to the document "SATA IO:
Port Multiplier, Revision 1.2". Within the document you will find on
page 5, section 3.1.1, reference to the PM PORT for the FIS you
mentioned in the specified bit locations.

When the proposal was written it was believed that the ATA/ATAPI-7
specification would be updated to reflect this information in the
transport volume (V3) which includes this FIS. I'll copy the T10 SAT
editor and the ATA/ATAPI-8 editor so that this editorial issue can be
quickly corrected.

Hope this helps,

Subject: SAT question on Signature in the VPD mode page

In the VPD mode page there is a signature which is the contents of the
latest register device to host FIS. In this signature there is a field
called "PM PORT". This field is not defined in ATAPI-7 volume 3
Revision 4b. Can you point me to where this is defined?
