Since T10 week will be occupied by SAS-1.1 letter ballot comment
resolution, HP is proposing that T10 hold a 6 Gbps SAS-2 physical WG
meeting on Wed/Thu 25-26 May in Houston, TX. This will not be
officially T10 sanctioned until the T10 plenary on 5 May.

Below is my suggestion for the agenda; the actual agenda will depend on
what people volunteer to present. Please let Alvin.Cox at seagate.com and
me know if you are willing to present on any specific topic (it doesn't
have to be on this list).

Day 1 (Wednesday 25 May 2005) 9:00am-6:00pm
Survey of other standards - what techniques have they
chosen/considered/rejected
Backplane focused:
* OIF CEI-6G-LR (6 Gbps)
* OIF CEI-11G-LR (11 Gbps)
* IEEE 802.3ap Backplane Ethernet task force (10 Gbps)
Backplane and cable focused:
* Fibre Channel FC-PI-4 (8 Gbps)
Cable focused:
* IEEE 802.3ab Gigabit Ethernet over Cat-5 (1000BASE-T)
* IEEE 802.3an 10 Gigabit Ethernet over Cat-5e/6 (10GBASE-T)

Tutorials
* StatEye simulation tool
* Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE) concept and techniques

Day 2 (Thursday 26 May 2005) 9:00am-6:00pm
Description of test chips that have been publicly demonstrated (e.g. 6
Gbps OIF CEI-6G test chips)

Test results of using those test chips (and/or test equipment simulating
at 6 Gbps) on real SAS interconnects
* InfiniBand style external cables (0 - 6 m)
* Molex iPASS external/internal cables (0 - 6 m)
* Internal cables and backplanes

Test equipment/procedures for 6 Gbps

Discuss what should be done for SAS-2
* Infrastructure requirements (cable lengths, backplane trace
length/complexity, etc.)
* Signaling techniques (what transmit and/or receiver processing, can we
rule out multilevel signaling, moving from 8b10b, etc.)
* Specification techniques (StatEye?)
* SATA compatibility at 6 Gbps

Discuss plugfest possibilities (phy layer interop testing before
committing to ASICs?)
Discuss schedule for SAS-2
