Hi Bill. 

1) yes - to "Obsolete" the Modify Data Pointer, Modify Bidirectional
Data Pointer, and EMDP bit in Mode Page (02h). 

2) yes - to "NS" for Restore Pointers (if IU Transfers Enabled) and "NS"
to the above items (if IU Transfers Enabled) if "Obsolete" is not
acceptable as you have requested.

The Modify Data Pointer messages were discussed during this weeks SPI
working group.
It was generally agreed that these messages should not be used when IUs
are enabled (packetized).
A suggestion was made to obsolete these messages whether IUs are enabled
or not.

I plan to bring in a proposal in May that either disallows these
messages for packetized or obsoletes them for everything in SPI-5.  They
would remain in SPI-4 for those older implementations that need them.

Are there any fans of the Modify Data Pointer messages that want to keep
them in SPI-5???
