When considering the number of slots available in a changer, MMC-2 seems =
to
be inconsistent.

The Load/Unload Medium command has 8 bits for selecting the slot to load
from. But in Mechanism Status, the Number of Slots field in the Status
Header only has 5 bits available for Number of Slots available and only 4
bits for Current Slot.

I would think more than 32 slots would be useful. Changing the Number of
Slots available to use 8 bits would probably be okay but changing Current
Slot from 4 bits to anything more would require restructuring the Mechani=
sm
Status Header.

So, is anyone using more than 32 slots? Would changing the Mechanism Stat=
us
header break most existing software/firmware?

Thanks,
Frank Banul
