OFFICE MEMO Error Handling in ATAPI Date: 10/13/94
Since you can issue a subsequent command in ATAPI to get
more sense data, the question arises as to how that is done
in a queuing environment. The easy answer is that the tag
for the command with the error is passed to the device with
the REQUEST SENSE command (as packet information - there
are lots of reserved bytes). The device must maintain sense
data for all commands until the tag is reused by the host.
Thus it appears for a queue depth of n, up to n sense blocks
must be maintained.
How is that for people?
