X3T9.2/91-147 September 6, 1991 Mr. Clyde R. Camp, Chair IEEE Microprocessor and Microcomputer Standards Subcommittee Texas Instruments, Inc. P.O. Box 655474 M/S 238 Dallas, TX 75265 Dear Mr. Camp, I just received a mailing from the IEEE DASG that includes a copy of a letter from you to William Rinehuls dated August 8, 1991. In this letter you make several statements about e-mail sent between Martin Freeman and myself last November. In your attached "Detailed Chronological History" you request corrections under penalty of it being assumed correct; however, you failed to copy me on your correspondance. I hope it is not too late to respond. I am appalled that a private correspondence is being referenced as an official position of X3T9.2 that X3 has no overlap with such a project as Disk Attach. I believe that all I communicated was lack of such a current project (to my knowledge), not lack of interest. I also requested that Martin Freeman contact Dal Allan to verify the activities in the Small Form Factor Committee. I receive many electronic inquiries and had no reason to believe that a private response to an inquiry by a stranger would be treated as an official position or made public. Had I been aware that an official position was being sought, I would have placed the topic on the X3T9.2 committee agenda for X3T9.2 consideration. Sincerely, John B. Lohmeyer, Chair X3T9.2 cc: Dal Allan Martin Freeman Don Heirman William Rinehuls Del Shoemaker
