Rock Road Wichita, KS 67226 Date: April 22, 1991 Subject: Tagged Queuing Restrictions Purpose This is a statement to add to the standard to clarify the intent of the tagged command queueing feature. Without this there will probably be confusion in the market, delaying the support of this feature. Adding this simple statement as an Implementor's Note in SCSI-2 would greatly help implementors. Add the following Implementation Note in section 6.8.2: A target with one or more I/O Processes outstanding from a given initiator may reconnect to that initiator to continue any of the I/O Processes. This is true regardless of the reordering algorithm used or whether HEAD OF QUEUE, ORDERED, or SIMPLE queue tags are used. These features limit the order of command execution. As used in this context, command execution only refers to alterations in the device operating modes and/or the media. It does not refer to the transfer of information accross the SCSI bus.
