15 October 1990 TO: John Lohmeyer, Chairman X3T9.2 FR: Bill (D.W.) Spence, Texas Instruments RE: Pinout Control of SCSI Round Cable Assemblies The following note is offered as a substitute for specifying cable color codes. NOTE: For single-ended operation, it is recommended that in cable assemblies incorporating round, twisted-pair cable comprising a core surrounded by two or more layers of twisted pairs, the following principles be observed to the extent practical: (1) The REQ and ACK pairs should be in the core. If there are more than two pairs in the core, the remainder should contain ground pairs. (2) The data and parity pairs should be in the outer layer(s).
