To: John Lohmeyer X3T9.2/87-178 Chairman, X359.2 From: Robert Snively Adaptec 580 Cottonwood Milpitas, CA 95037 Date: September 30, 1987 Subject: Clarification of reset operation. Section 5.2.2.1 of the SCSI-2 draft document X3T9.2/86-109, Revision 2 dated August 1, 1987 indicates that the Hard RESET alternative will establish all SCSI operating modes at their default conditions. I believe that this paragraph should be changed to read as follows: 5.2.2.1. "Hard" RESET Alternative SCSI devices that implement the "hard" RESET alternative, upon detection of the RESET condition, shall: (1) Clear all uncompleted commands (2) Release all SCSI device reservations (3) Return any SCSI device operating modes to their appropriate initial conditions, similar to those conditions that would be found after a normal power-on-reset. MODE SELECT conditions shall be restored to their last saved values if saved values have been established. MODE SELECT conditions for which no values have been saved will be returned to their default values. (4) UNIT ATTENTION condition shall be set (See 6.1.3) Thank you for your consideration of this proposal. R. Snively
