             VENDOR IDENTIFICATION in the SCSI-2 INQUIRY Command

SCSI-2 defines a Vendor Identification field in the INQUIRY Data.  This field 
is eight bytes in length, so there is a small probability that more than one 
vendor may elect to use the same Vendor ID.  This document contains the 
current list of Vendor IDs selected by a number of vendors.  This should help 
to avoid conflicts.  This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of SCSI 
implementors nor does it guarantee that these firms will offer SCSI products.  

Please contact John Lohmeyer, X3T9.2 Chairman, NCR Corporation, 3718 N. Rock 
Road, Wichita, KS 67226 to change IDs or to include a new ID.  X3T9 is 
investigating a better mechanism for registering Vendor IDs, Medium Codes, 
etc.; however, until a better mechanism is identified, this will have to do.
