Subject: [Mt Fuji/MMC] BD MMC proposal for INCITS 1.11
X-Message-Number: 9298
Formatted message: HTML-formatted message

Hi,
I am looking at the proposal document distributed at this month's meeting.
The read and write feature descriptor bits have been re-purposed from disc
classes and versions to specific bits for given disc standard. 4 of these
bits were actually defined for reading and 2 for writing.
Are these bits actually mapping exactly to the formerly reported classes and
versions?
Interestingly, BD-RE Version 1 media can be reported as readable, but not
writable. Looks like legacy even before this standard is released - weird.
Why not making this bit obsolete as well?
Also, the BD Write Feature version needs to be increased from 0 to 1.
With regards,
David.
