This is pretty much a popularity contest. Vote early, vote often for your favorite INCITS standard(s). You might win a $100 American Express Gift Card.

To:       Communications Officers
            ANSI Organizational Members

Dear Colleagues:

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend
!

The ANSI communications team would greatly appreciate the support of our member organizations in spreading the word about the 2008 Standards That Make a Difference survey.

First launched in 2002, this initiative highlights and raises awareness of the standards that are most important to various industry sectors. For those of you that are standard-setting bodies, this could be a great way to promote standards that you have developed; others may wish to highlight those documents that are being most frequently used by your industry.  The input gathered will be used by ANSI to develop case studies, news items, and other outreach and awareness-building collateral about the global impact of standardization programs. A complete list of entries received will be published on ANSI Online and displayed during World Standards Week 2008.

There is also an incentive to participate!  Every eligible entry will be entered into a random drawing for one of three $100 American Express Gift Cards. The drawing will be held at the conclusion of the ANSI Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2008.

§          A direct link to the survey – including descriptive text – can be found here: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey-intro.zgi?p=WEB227NYNH8EQZ

§          Additional background information can be found in this ANSI Online news item: http://www.ansi.org/news_publications/news_story.aspx?menuid=7&articleid=1798

§          Entries may be American National Standards, standards developed by the ISO or IEC, or from any other domestic, regional or international body - including consortia. Each entry must refer to a standard that is already published and in use in the marketplace; standards that are still a work in progress will be excluded from this survey.

§          The deadline for submission is Friday, September 19, 2008.

Please let us know if you need any supplemental graphics or text to include in your news item or member communications. We would also appreciate it if you could send us a copy of anything that you run about the survey. In turn, we look forward to sharing the survey results with you!

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Meg

P.S.  Now that summer is here, you may be looking for some news to round out your member communications during the slower months. We encourage you to visit the ANSI Media Tips and Case Studies page on ANSI Online for ideas about standards-related content. We also ask that you let us know if you have ideas for additional content that will highlight the work of your organization.
