Is there a limit on the number of Phys that can make up a wide port?

Most drive enclosures have 2  x4 Infiniband connectors.  Should I be able to connect two x4 cables from the drive enclosure to a HBA that has two x4 connectors?

Will all 8 phys participate in transferring data?
