Subject: SAS-2 revision 9 now available Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2007 14:06:45 -0500 From: "Elliott, Robert (Server Storage)" <Elliott@hp.com> To: <t10@t10.org> X-Message-Number: 7657 Attachment #1: smime-3.p7s Serial Attached SCSI - 2 (SAS-2) revision 8 (sas2r09) is now available on http://www.t10.org/drafts.htm and http://www.t10.org/new.htm, incorporating proposals recommended by the March 2007 T10 plenary (e.g., the new TLR control mechanism, removing address resolved method of zoning, and adding the expander "reduced functionality" mode). The goal is to start T10 letter ballot after the July 2007 meeting week; the 6 Gbps physical layer specifications will probably be the gating item. Please: * review the editor's notes that have accumulated * review pending proposals and send comments to their authors. The current WG agendas are at: - http://www.t10.org/ftp/t10/sas-agnd.htm and - http://www.t10.org/ftp/t10/phy-agnd.htm * prepare proposals for any other changes you want Letter ballot resolution usually takes 2 meeting cycles (allowing the final draft to age for 2 months). So, if letter ballot really happens in September, forwarding to public review would probably occur in January 2008. There are no plans for a SAS-2.1, so changes made after SAS-2 is published would have to go into SAS-3 working drafts. SAS-3 will probably remain open longer than SAS-1.1 or SAS-2. SAS-1.0: 5/2002 to 7/2003 (1 year, 2 months) SAS-1.1: 7/2003 to 9/2005 (2 years, 2 months) SAS-2: 9/2005 to 1/2008 (2 years, 4 months) SAS-3: 1/2008 to 1/2011 (3 years)(estimate) -- Rob Elliott, elliott@hp.com Hewlett-Packard Industry Standard Server Storage Advanced Technology https://ecardfile.com/id/RobElliott
